The Arrival of Canadian Videoart in the Multicultural Age!!

In this opening series, we introduce ongoing Canadian visual arts with a variety of guests: Michael Goldberg, who introduced the concept of Videoart to Japan during the '70s; Tasman Richardson from Toronto, who will introduce videoart demonstration; Shinobu Akimoto, contemporary artist living in Canada, who will her and her Canadian peers' art work using video.

vol.3 guest: Shinobu Akimoto

Shinobu Akimoto has been practicing art in Canada since early 90's. Her projects explore an interest in art-making as lifestyle in the absence of so-called artistic traits and subject matter. She is currently on the board of an artist-run gallery Mercer Union in Toronto and divides her time between the two countries.

vol.2 guest: Tasman Richardson & Josh Avery finished

Tasman Richardson is a core member of the art group FAMEFAME based in Tronto. Josh Avery and he will not only introduce videoart works from FAMEFAME, but also they will demonstrate the making of videoart using Final Cut Pro.

vol.1 guest: Michael Goldberg finished

He is involved in one of the videoart group VIDEO IN, and in experimental artistic activities oriented in Vancouver from 70's. He came to Japan in 71, coached Japanese artists for videoarts, organized "Do it yourself kit," the first videoart exhibition in Japan. He is still producing video works.
